Welcome – This blog has been created to keep members of restored-classics.com informed and updated.
As most of you know paid membership is new to restored-classics.com and was originally started to enable the use of the pod system that would eliminate spam for users that do not want to publish their email addresses.
The original thought was to give every email address a pod number, but as it turned out their were so many messages being sent by pod that it was impossible for me to handle. Membership was created partly to cut down on large numbers of incoming pod requests, The site is basically a one man operation and not being able to handle the workload created problems.
Membership from this end is excellent – It adds to the income created by google adverts and hopefully will supply the site with funds to create more useful features and upgrades. Total income is pretty basic but I do not eat much so the site will continue to plod along.
It is my hope that you will offer me suggestions in the ‘comments’ space below. Any Questions asked will be honestly answered.
If you have a problem or gripe about the site let me know. It is my goal to make all of you happy to continue being paid members.
I do not care what they say about you, Pat, you are okay in my book…..smiles
I do not know if the pod helps all that much. Microsoft is getting better at reducing
the spam in hotmail, etc. There will always be paranoid schizos worried about
their anal retentive inbox, but I believe they might be in the minority.. Maybe I am
wrong, though. Once one gets thier email into the wrong hands just one time….it is rather
a lost cause anyway.

i must have stumbled over your site last year and typed in 36 chev pu and got a hole lot of ads from sellers and buyers and then left the site as i have not started my project yet but may want to join your sight if it is secure i would like some feed back fro current members is that possible and thank you i am a rookie on a lot of this web site stuff JZ
Comment by Jess ziccarello — February 1, 2011 @ 3:35 am
Jess. on most pages there is a submit form – If you place your email address in the not for publication box you are allocated a pod number..
Anyone contacting a pod number gets the message checked . . before it is passed on.
If you need a pod number before you submit an advert so that you never need to use your email address on site email me paddy3@tpg.com.au
There is nothing onsite that collects information except google. . ( This site displays google advert )
It can and does collect information right across the internet in an effort to display relevent adverts.
You can successfully use restored-classics.com using only the single page
If you need to –
on this page you can contact me . submit adverts – find parts. . etc

All I want to do is submit a querry to a POD address, but unable to do this unless I subscribe…..I subcribe to enough sites and reluctant to do anyother just for a querry. I find this very restrictive and could therefore limit the number of responses to to your adds and members.
A lost opportunity.
Comment by alan wise — February 27, 2011 @ 5:38 pm
Alan if a user or member does not want to publish their email address because it will attract a number of scam emails saying “I have the parts” then they do not need to.
Had you wrote the Pod address that you wished to contact on your message it might well have been delivered to you.
The pod priority is to stop scammers contacting site users email addresses. It may well be a lost opportunity but the person submitting the advert who clicks the not for publication is surely entitled to have some protection.
You have the option of placing your own message saying “I have this part” Or “I want that part” With or without submitting your email address for public display.

Your site is great, and as the owner of two 1936 Plymouth sedans I need a site like yours with the connections it has to locate parts and ask a few questions. I would like to become a member, question, what does it cost to join and what do I need to join and receive my password. Thank you and I will be checking my e-mail, imcarshowguy1@yahoo.com for your answers
Comment by John Stage — July 26, 2011 @ 6:06 am
Hi John. your mosts suitable web page is .
http://restored-classic.com/plymouth-parts/1936.htmlMembership is optional – the main basic advantage of membership is the
ability to contact unlisted (non members) email addresses via our ‘pod
‘forwarding.system.
Membership is $1 per month, in two-monthly periods through pay pal ($2)
. . A renew your subscription notice arrives every 2nd month – can be
ignored or cancelled through you paypal account
Link to membership page should be on the above page. or here
http://restored-classics.com/becomeamember.html (paypal loads a bit slow
sometimes)
Password and user id is emailed to you manually. This is sent as soon as I
am able to send it (often a delay NOT INSTANT) – the site is not overly
automated.
Thanks mate – I see an ad submitted in the pipeline (need rear body ) –
Be wary of scams with you email address public.
